Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, once suspended from the NFL for an entire season, has been asked by the NFL to address the 2012 rookie class. The goal is that he can share his story of off-the-field issues which is essentially the nightmare of dream opportunities and something will stick with the rookies to prevent them from making their own mistakes in the future.

This news comes on the heels of Roger Goodell’s memo to all NFL teams about the recent rash of DWIs amongst NFL Players.

“The message is, this is not a joke. At the end of the day you have to treat it like a business,” Adam Jones said. “And you’re a business owner, and every decision you make is a reflection of you.”

Adam Jones came into the league with his pants on fire. He was a dynamic corner and electric return man before the decisions he was making started to derail his career. Jones started his first two seasons with the Tennessee Titans before being suspended for what would’ve been his third season.

Jones than played for the Dallas Cowboys who were determined to keep him out of trouble and even assigned a “bodyguard” to watch him and protect him. But Jones in an alcohol related incident assaulted that man as well earning yet another 6 game suspension.

“What you do on the field, what you do off the field, it’s all a reflection of you,” Jones told the Bengals’ website. “Going to the club here, going to the club there. Having 100 people with you. Checking your advisers, your accountants. Just basic stuff.”

Jones just pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct case hat dates back to July of 2011, when Jones was arrested for yelling obscenities at police officers who arrested him at a local bar. Another charge of resisting arrest was dismissed as part of his plea deal and he could still face action by the league for that incident.

The rookie class has a lot to learn from Adam “Pacman” Jones, and hopefully some of them will be listening.
