NFL Schedule Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s 67 days until the new NFL season begins but for a football mad guy like me that’s just too long so I’ve taken it upon myself to go over each NFL schedule and try and predict for all of you what may happen once the season rolls around.

The previews of the AFC South continue today with the Jacksonville Jaguars who went 5-11 in 2011. Here’s how I think their season will go:

  • Week 1 at Minnesota Vikings – Win
  • Week 2 vs Houston Texans – Loss
  • Week 3 at Indianapolis Colts – Win
  • Week 4 vs Cincinnati Bengals – Loss
  • Week 5 vs Chicago Bears – Loss
  • Week 6 BYE
  • Week 7 at Oakland Raiders – Win
  • Week 8 at Green Bay Packers – Loss
  • Week 9 vs Detroit Lions – Loss
  • Week 10 vs Indianapolis Colts – Loss
  • Week 11 at Houston Texans – Loss
  • Week 12 vs Tennessee Titans – Loss
  • Week 13 at Buffalo Bills – Loss
  • Week 14 vs New York Jets – Loss
  • Week 15 at Miami Dolphins – Loss
  • Week 16 vs New England Patriots – Loss
  • Week 17 at Tennessee Titans – Loss

Overall Record for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012: 3-13

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team that is still several years from being fully competitive and in 2012 they have one of the most formidable schedules of any team in the league. This schedule should be a message to all Jags fans – be prepared to take whatever successes you can as there is little doubt there are double digits losses coming this season.

The main storylines this schedule promises all involve quarterback play – a tough schedule means that we should find out what type of player quarterback Blaine Gabbert is in the second year of his career – although I would attest the Jaguars may be better off sitting him for a year to avoid the fate of the likes of David Carr, the challenge of facing some of the top quarterbacks in the league in messrs Brady, Stafford and Rodgers, there’s the two meetings with this year’s #1 NFL draft pick Andrew Luck and finally the return to Jacksonville of hometown hero Tim Tebow as a member of the New York Jets.

Tomorrow we round out the previews of AFC South schedules with the defending division champion Houston Texans.
