NFL Schedule Preview: Minnesota Vikings

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s 45 days until the new NFL season begins but for a football mad guy like me that’s just too long so I’ve taken it upon myself to go over each NFL schedule and try and predict for all of you what may happen once the season rolls around.

We’re nearly done with the NFC North’s schedule as we finish today’s double header with the Minnesota Vikings who went 3-13 in 2011. Here’s how I think their season will go:

  • Week 1 vs Jacksonville Jaguars – Loss
  • Week 2 at Indianapolis Colts – Loss
  • Week 3 vs San Francisco 49ers – Loss
  • Week 4 at Detroit Lions – Loss
  • Week 5 vs Tennessee Titans – Win
  • Week 6 at Washington Redskins – Loss
  • Week 7 vs Arizona Cardinals – Win
  • Week 8 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Loss
  • Week 9 at Seattle Seahawks – Loss
  • Week 10 vs Detroit Lions – Loss
  • Week 11 BYE
  • Week 12 at Chicago Bears – Loss
  • Week 13 at Green Bay Packers – Loss
  • Week 14 vs Chicago Bears – Loss
  • Week 15 at St Louis Rams – Loss
  • Week 16 at Houston Texans – Loss
  • Week 17 vs Green Bay Packers – Loss

Overall Record for the Minnesota Vikings in 2012: 2-14

The Minnesota Vikings are clearly a team that needs a lot of work and so any schedule is going to look tough. As it happens the Vikings have one of the toughest schedules in the league this year and as such it’s difficult to predict them winning any games at all. They do get a reasonably easy start and one or two soft encounters mid-season but their final schedule after the bye is truly brutal. If Leslie Frazier escapes this season with his job I will be very surprised – but also rather admiring of Ziggy Wulf for having the guts to recognise the position his franchise is in and stick with the plan.

That’s it for the NFC North. Next week – the NFC South awaits with our first schedule study being that of the beleaguered New Orleans Saints.
