Titans RB Chris Johnson Says He Could Beat Usain Bolt

The Olympics are underway in London and Usain Bolt won the 100 m race again. Usain Bolt set the Olympic record of 9.63 seconds on his way to the gold medal. But Tennesse Titans RB Chris Johnson says he could beat Bolt in a 40 yard dash.
“I feel like if I would have kept training for track I’d have a chance, but I play football and he runs track, so it’s totally different,” Johnson told the Tennessean. “I think I could still probably beat him in the 40. If I actually trained for the distance he trained for, I think I’d have a chance.”
Chris Johnson isn’t trying to be disrespectful to Bolt who also holds the world record at 9.58 seconds.
“He is a great athlete,” Johnson said. “I think he’ll be the best track athlete to ever compete in the Olympics.”
Johnson’s time in the 40 yard dash at the 2008 NFL Combine was a incredibly quick 4.24 seconds. That is the fastest time ever at the combine. And Chris Johnson was also a track star in high school in the Orlando area but elaborated on the difference in training between track stars such as Bolt and football players.
“Training for football, we do a lot of short sprints — we do 40s and 50s and things like that. We don’t really train like track athletes,” Johnson said. “If a track athlete tried to come play football it would be totally different (for Bolt).”
But as Johnson focuses on racing Bolt in a different athletic field, Bolt has focused on soccer telling a British paper he’d like to play for Manchester United.
“People think I am joking, but if Alex Ferguson called me up and said, ‘OK let’s do this, come and have a trial,’ it would be impossible for me to say no,” Bolt said. “I would not take up the challenge if I didn’t think I was good enough. I am a very accomplished player and know I could make a difference.”
If Johnson can’t get a race against Bolt he could always run the 100 and compare times. Or he could do what Chad Ochocinco did and race a horse.
