Andrew Luck Lives Up To Hype In Preseason Debut

There is no doubt about it. The Indianapolis Colts have a special quarterback in first-overall pick Andrew Luck. Luck dazzled in the Colts preseason opener and it all started with a touchdown pass on his first snap in the offense.

The St. Louis Rams blitzed Luck on the opening play but Luck stayed calm under pressure and dumped the ball off to running back Donald Brown for the 63-yard catch and run touchdown.

Luck didn’t force anything and just dumped the ball off four yards then watched Brown show off his speed as he took it to the house.

Luck regularly showed off his textbook mechanics and underrated athleticism as he seemed to constantly be under pressure. His composure was well beyond his years and he showed a clear understanding of the game.

A rookie is not supposed to have the pocket presence that Luck showcased in his debut.

While none of this should really come as a surprise, it is still impressive to see Luck perform this smoothly on the NFL stage — even if it is just the preseason.

Through the team’s first three series, Luck was 5-for-6 for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Luck finished the game 10-for-16 with 188 yards passing, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. His passer rating was 142.7.

Amazing debut.
