Drew Rosenhaus has long been viewed as ruthless, even sketchy agent of the NFL. He has represented troublemakers like Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Terrell Owens but most notably Dez Bryant. That is before Dez Bryant fired him recently.
Originally Dez Bryant hired Eugene Parker who was recommended to him by Deion Sanders, but then fired him after negotiating his rookie contract and hired the bigger name and brand Drew Rosenhaus.
“Nothing against Rosenhaus, but I know what the quality person Eugene Parker is and I think Dez benefits from that” Jerry Jones said when Bryant announced he was rehiring Parker.
Well Dez Bryant’s long time advisor David Wells is alleging that Drew Rosenhaus offered cash for Dez Bryant as a client confirming what we all knew all along… that Rosenhaus is a sleazy scumbag.
Bryant lived with Wells at times in high school and through out college, and Wells said Rosenhaus offered him cash payments and a trip to Miami if he could deliver Bryant to the agent according to Yahoo Sports.
Yahoo Sports says Wells showed texts, allegedly from a Rosenhaus number from December 2009 to January 2010 in which he offered to give Wells $10,000 for a charity he works with. Wells though says the texts started after the 2009 Thanksgiving Oklahoma State game.
Yahoo says the number matches one on file for Rosenhaus and compiled this timeline of events.
"• Dec. 16, 2009, Rosenhaus wrote in a text to Wells: “Also will have 10K for you to give to your community center..”• Dec. 17, 2009, Rosenhaus wrote in another text: “Dnt [sic] mean to put pressure but we want this bad ! Were ready to put u on a private jet and get this done.. Miami’s callllinnnnnggggg!!!”• Dec. 21, 2009, after Wells said he did not respond to Rosenhaus’ text messages, the agent wrote by text: “Never heard back my man.. We raised the guarantee … You’ll be happy..”• Jan. 3, 2010, Rosenhaus wrote in a text: “Whatever it takes man … whatever … Just give us a shot.”"
Yahoo sports also says that Rosenhaus didn’t comment to any of the 11 questions directed towards him during an hour long interview citing private client/agent relationships.
David Wells is coming forward because he feels Drew Rosenhaus “takes advantage of athletes, particularly African-American athletes.”
Rosenhaus also allegedly called Wells trying to recover money from Bryant that he claims he advanced him.
“Drew called me and said, ‘We don’t want this to get out in the media and we don’t want this to get ugly, but Dez owes us some money,’ ” Wells said. “I said, ‘OK, but why are you calling me now? Because you got fired? You didn’t call me before you gave to him?’ … If you knew this kid was on financial restraints, why would you feed the fire?”
Either way you have to think Dez Bryant is better off with out Rosenhaus.
