Sources are saying that Jason Witten is dead set on playing. Even after being declared unfit to play as he still recovers from a spleen injury, an injury that could kill him. CT scans have shown that the spleen has healed and that he could play, but the Cowboys and team officials have decided to air on the side of caution, and by with holding Witten he gets an extra 10 days of rest.

Witten is a warrior though, known for a play where he ran down field with the ball and no helmet. And according to the sources Witten is willing to sign a waiver that would absolve the team and doctors of any liability if he were to become injured in the game tonight.

The team has him listed as a game time decision and he did make the trip to New Jersey.

Many will remember a game when Jason Witten was hit, suffered a concussion in the process and wanted to come back into the game. Trainers had to hide Witten’s helmet to keep him from entering the game.

Chris Simms almost died from a similar yet more severe spleen injury while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There is no doubt that the player has heart but this might be a player where the NFL and the Cowboys have to protect a player from themselves.
