Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has come under fire for his poor attitude following the team’s losses and it has begun to worry people. Coming into the league, a big question mark surrounding Newton was what was perceived to be immaturity. In the recent weeks, those concerns have resurfaced and it is cause for concern.

One man who has noticed Cam’s poor postgame attitude is his father, Cecil Newton. Cecil is happy his son is representing himself truthfully but acknowledges that it may be best to change how he handles the media following losses.

“He’s probably not dealing with it the best way in terms of the way the public sees it, and some people see it is as immature,” Cecil said. “Cam is an intense player who’s committed his whole heart to winning. I think the immature action is the opposite. If Cam didn’t care that’d be immature and cause for concern.”

Cam has been a trainwreck following the Panthers losses and his poor behavior has rubbed many people the wrong way. If there is one thing his father doesn’t like, it’s Cam opening himself up for the criticism on his demeanor.

“You have to table it,” Cecil said. “It’s OK to be dejected, but not at the expense that the media can’t do their job. And I think he did a better job of doing that after the Seattle game.”

Cam Newton is one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks we have ever seen in the NFL but the questions about his mental strength continue to plague him. He will need to get it together and show that he has matured as a man and player if he wants to get back in good graces with the media.

Times are only getting tougher for Cam as the Panthers lost their starting center Ryan Kalil for the remainder of the season. Now, more than ever, Cam will be tested and he needs to step up and be the team’s leader on and off the field.
