The New York Jets need serious help at the wide receiver position and free agent veteran Terrell Owens has taken notice. During Monday Night Football, Owens tweeted out:

Immediately, the masses came out and began to call Owens pathetic for his latest attempt to gauge interest in his services. While many called Owens’ tweet a desperate attempt at a NFL comeback, it was Owens he called the Jets use of cornerback Antonio Cromartie on the offensive side of the ball desperate.
“I’ve read a lot of tweets and everybody’s saying that I’m desperate, I’m begging for a job,” Owens said. “But it’s not begging for a job when you know you can still play at a high level, given the opportunity. When you have a defensive back playing offense and running routes, then I think that’s more desperate than my actual tweet itself.”
Owens believes that the perception around the NFL that he is a trouble maker and bad apple in the locker room is the reason he has not received another shot in the league.
“That’s definitely a part of it,” Owens said. “I’ve matured. There’s things I’ve done in my career that I can honestly say were said and done out of immaturity.”
The Jets could probably benefit from giving Owens a shot. They do need the help and Owens showed during training camp with the Seattle Seahawks that he has the ability to contribute on some level. At this point for New York, they can’t do much worse. Why not give T.O. a shot?
