There have been five games this season where New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has failed to complete at least 50 percent of his passes. Despite the poor performance and the Jets playoff hopes dwindling, the team is once against expressing their commitment to Sanchez.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan confirmed the team will stick with Sanchez and that is the popular choice among players in the locker room.
Starting cornerback Antonio Cromartie is one Jets player that has been outspoken about the team’s quarterback situation and his media session following the team’s loss on Sunday was no different. Cromartie was asked about the critics who say the Jets should turn to Tim Tebow and he made his opinion heard loud and clear.
“They can kiss my [expletive],” Cromartie said, per the New York Post.
“Mark is our quarterback. At the end of the day, we could give a damn what anybody on the outside has to say. Mark is our quarterback and he’s going to continue to be our quarterback,” Cromartie added. “There’s not going to be no division, talking about who needs to be our quarterback. Mark is our quarterback and he’s our only quarterback.”
Ouch.
Sanchez is the team’s ONLY quarterback? We see what you did there, Antonio.
It is clear that the team and players in the locker room do not have faith in Tebow leading the team even if their playoff chances are slim. It will be interesting to see if the team turns to Tebow once they are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
