Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen went above and beyond the call of duty when raising money to help wounded warriors on Veterans Day weekend.
Allen hosted his first-annual “Helping Heroes Gala” at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. Through ticket sales and silent auctions throughout the event, Allen raised nearly $300,000 for wounded warriors.
“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out on Friday and made the event an incredible success,” Allen said.
“The support I received from my teammates and the Vikings organization was remarkable and I cannot say thank you enough. I hope that next year is even more successful. I intend to continue this event for many years to come so that we can provide more homes for our wounded warriors.”
Allen describes Home For Wounded Warriors as a ” non-profit organization created for the sole purpose of raising money to build or modify the homes of America’s injured Military Veterans. H4WW helps to build or modify homes so they are handicap accessible and comfortable for our wounded vets.”
You can make a donation to Homes For Wounded Warriors through Allen’s official website and buy a t-shirt to help support the cause.
