Sometimes players choose to not workout at the combine in order to save their efforts for their university’s “pro day.” An environment that’s more controlled and comfortable and can be tweaked to work in their favor.
Others unfortunately just weren’t healthy in time. USC’s Matt Barkley wasn’t medically cleared but should be ready by USC’s March 27th pro day.
Now Cal’s Keenan Allen, a potential Top 5 wide receiver in this years draft will also sit on the side lines during this year’s combine.
Cal WR Keenan Allen hasn't been cleared to run and won't workout at the Combine. PCL injury. Too bad. He needed a good time here.

Unfortunate indeed, NFL Network’s Mike Mayock has Allen as the #2 wide receiver on his big board. As other wide receivers surely will impress it could cause him to drop down on that list. In a year where talent at wide receiver might not be that great as well.
Cal's Keenan Allen, projected as a top WR in upcoming draft, is nursing a sprained PCL that will prevent him from working out at combine.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter did say that Allen’s agent J.T. Johnson said he will attend the combine and participate in medical exams. He won’t be fully ready by Cal’s pro day on March 14th, but he plans on running a 40 in April before the draft.
