Since the Kansas City Chiefs let Steve Breaston go there has been speculation about where he would wind up. The early leaders in his brief free agency period seemed to be the Pittsburgh Steelers. For those curious as to why he can negotiate with teams now before free agency officially begins, it’s because he was released and his contract was terminated in other words it didn’t naturally expire.
ProFootballTalk cited a source with knowledge of the situation, that claims Breaston’s agent met with Steelers G.M. Kevin Colbert on Sunday. He seemed enthusiastic about potentially playing in Pittsburgh.
“I know of the Pittsburgh tradition and the winning ways, and it would be a great team to be involved with, but for me, it is all about using this process,” Breaston told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I have to take everything in and see what would be a good fit for me and where I can come in and play.”
But apparently Colbert couldn’t get the job done because reports are now surfacing that Breaston is headed to Cleveland to meet with the team.
Incredible considering the wide receiver only had 7 catches for 74 yards last season. He was essentially pushed out of the Kansas City Chiefs offense. He has shown promise at times in his career but never any real level of consistency or dependability.
