The big move to be had this free agency would be Wes Welker ending up in Denver. Denver’s top 5 defense would then have an unstoppable offense with the boost in the WR corps. There have been concerns that Wes is a product of the system in New England. Denver’s system and Peyton at QB can prove to be an even better system for Wes Welker than New England.
In Peyton Manning’s final year on the Colts he passed for a staggering 1,433 yards and 14 touchdowns to his slot receivers, Garcon and Collie. Someone like Wes Welker who can come into Denver’s system and instantly become Peyton’s full time slot guy can be the final horseman for Denver’s already studded offense. Before adding Welker, Denver has 2 of the NFL’s most promising young receivers in Thomas and Decker on the outside. After adding Welker, opposing teams won’t know who to double team. This coupled with the late season re-emergence of former 1st round tailback, Knowshon Moreno make Denver’s offense a true force to be reckoned with in the NFL.
Without Wes, the Denver Broncos are a team with a good shot at winning the Lombardi this year, with Wes they’re my favorite for it. If they can lock down Wes and add some depth to the secondary and backfield in the draft by adding a 1st round CB like Mississippi State’s Johnthan Banks before adding a 2nd round RB who can be productive in a high powered system like Oklahoma State’s Joseph Randle, they can be a team that at least on paper can go 16-0 in the 2013 season.
