Larry Fitzgerald, statistically had a disappointing season. He is one of the greatest wide outs in the NFL currently and we saw what he was capable of when Kurt Warner was throwing him the ball. But last year Fitzgerald posted career low numbers (71 catches, 798 yards), which in part is excusable considering he played with 4 different quarterbacks in one season.
But now that Carson Palmer has brought stability to the position, Fitzgerald is ready to go and excited. But Palmer is equally excited.
“To be a quarterback coming to a team where a receiver runs things and pretty much is the one everyone looks up to is a unique situation for me,” Palmer said.
Clearly a shot at a former teammate. But as happy as Fitzgerald is, he is in “prove it” mode.
“I’m coming off the most disappointing season of my career and I’m in ‘Prove it’ mode,” Fitzgerald said. “Anyone who can come to our team and help us reclaim the division, I’m all for.”
Palmer shares Fitzgerald’s drive and is ready to win now.
“At the point I am in in my career, I want to win now,” Palmer said. “I don’t have years to build.”
“I don’t think I ever dreamed we’d get a quarterback the quality of Carson Palmer to come to the Cardinals and it just presented itself,” Cardinals President Michael Bidwill said.
