Memorial Day weekend, and most summer holidays, are synonymous with DUIs. In the Dallas area where I live they make those weekends no refusal weekends. Meaning that while you can normally refuse taking any form of sobriety test when stopped (you wind up going to jail anyways but the lack of evidence from your refusal usually gets you out of it later) you can’t on these weekends. They keep judges on stand by 24/7 all weekend so if you refuse they get a warrant to draw blood immediately.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver got arrested under suspicion of DUI over the weekend according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Cody Grimm also was arrested Sunday for public intoxication.
Joe Morgan was found asleep behind the wheel of his car. He failed a field sobriety test and later provided a sample by either blood or breath that resulted in a blood-alcohol content of 0.218 percent. Almost 3 times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Morgan was released later in the day on a $1,150 bond and has yet to comment, the New Orlean Saints have also declined to comment on the matter yet.
Many believe Morgan will have a good year with the expectation that he will be the Saints No. 3 wide up in the 2013 season.
