New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has done a decent job of staying out of the spotlight while he is involved in a murder investigation of one of his associates (minus a well-publicized trip down the highway to the Patriots’ stadium).

Monday night Hernandez’s attorney released a statement courtesy of Mike Reiss over at ESPN Boston:

"“Over the past week, our client, Aaron Hernandez, has been the subject of a relentless flood of rumors, misinformation, and false reports in the media. These include the repeated publication of a supposedly confirmed report that an arrest warrant had been issued for Aaron, a report that was exposed as untrue. None of these false reports come from official sources and we appreciate the professionalism and restraint shown by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office to date with regard to its public statements while its investigation is underway. Out of respect for that ongoing investigation, we will continue to refrain from commenting on its substance.”"

The statement is your standard fare for the most part as Hernandez’s attorney will of course not comment on the case at this time. He does justifiably take aim at the media for arrest warrant stories, but outside of that it’s business as usual.

As of now the statement does little to tell us more about the investigation into what is a very serious manner. However, it’s nice to hear the silence from Hernandez’s camp finally broken.
