Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson shocked the world last year when he rushed for 2,097 yards just months after a serious knee injury. In other words, we were all wondering if he was even human.
Apparently Peterson is not a robot.
According to Jim Corbett of USA Today, Peterson suffered a serious allergic reaction last offseason that was legitimately life-threatening:
"“I thought I was Superman until I experienced that life-changing anaphylactic shock,” Peterson told USA TODAY Sports about his life-threatening allergic scare. “I was eating lunch and gobbled down a couple of bowls of gumbo.“Then, 15 minutes later, I’m in my dorm room resting up. My eyes started itching and my throat was swelling up.“I could barely breathe.”"
As serious of an issue as it truly was, Peterson looked just fine last year after having the incident occur in training camp. He’s now on a quest to become the first player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.
We have a feeling Peterson will be just fine heading into next year after such a serious knee injury and allergic scare.
Someone tell him to stay away from the sea food.
