One of the biggest games this week will be an AFC battle with potential playoff ramifications between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET. Below are the injury reports for both teams, and I’ve added some clarifications based on new reports and information.
Baltimore Ravens
Out
WR Jacoby Jones (knee)- He’ll be out for another several weeks, and we likely won’t see him for about a month’s time after his injury in the opener.
C Ryan Jensen (foot)
Doubtful
RB Ray Rice (hip)- Ray Rice hasn’t been downgraded to out yet, but I would be shocked if he plays today against the Houston Texans. Rice’s hip flexor strain could reportedly also take him out for next week’s game, so he is more than doubtful for today’s contest. Bernard Pierce was already named the starter, and the Baltimore Ravens almost certainly have full confidence in the talented backup.
WR Deonte Thompson (foot)- He’s progressing well, but he’s still most likely a week off from returning. It was, however, very encouraging to see him practice on a (very) limited basis this week.
DE Chris Canty (thigh)
LB Arthur Brown (chest)
DT Brandon Williams (toe)
Questionable
CB Chykie Brown (knee)
Houston Texans
Out
LT Duane Brown (toe)- Initially expected to be a game-time decision for today’s game, Duane Brown was downgraded to “out” yesterday and is dealing with a bad turf toe injury. Brown’s absence will put a heavy strain on Matt Schaub, as Ryan Harris will start in place of the elite LT. Terrell Suggs is licking his chops, and both he and Elvis Dumervil should match the six combined QB hits they put up last week against a very good Cleveland Browns tackle duo.
Questionable
FS Ed Reed (hip)- Ed Reed is getting closer to playing and is a game-time decision for a matchup against his former team. I honestly expect Reed to be out there.
TE Garrett Graham (groin/hip)- He’s another game-time decision.
Probable
RB Arian Foster (calf)
TE Owen Daniels (non-injury related)
WR Andre Johnson (concussion)- He is fully cleared and good-to-go.
CB Johnathan Joseph (non-injury related)
LG Wade Smith (knee)
ILB Brian Cushing (knee)
ILB Joe Mays (quadriceps)
RB Ben Tate (shoulder)
C Chris Myers (back)
WR DeVier Posey (achilles)
RT Derek Newton (knee)
CB Brice McCain (knee)
LB Darryl Sharpton (hip)
