Cecil Shorts, Marcedes Lewis Injury Updates

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts suffered a severe, somewhat strange shoulder injury in yesterday’s loss to the Denver Broncos, and he may have also fractured a rib near his sternum. That remains to be seen, but we do know that he injured his AC join because that’s what he told us. At this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to how long Shorts will be out, but one thing going for Jaguars fans and Shorts’s fantasy owners is the fact that the man is incredibly tough.
Florida Times-Union columnist Vito Stellino tweeted that Cecil Shorts is not wearing a sling anymore because he says he doesn’t want to look like he’s handicapped when he isn’t handicapped. Interesting. He says his goal is to play next week against the San Diego Chargers, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards since AC injuries are usually severe. Hopefully we get some sort of a timetable on his return, but there is still a chance he plays this week.
Tight end Marcedes Lewis has played in just one game this season, and he has been unable to practice for a few weeks now. Lewis’s calf injury has been a huge issue for him, but Florida Times-Union beat writer Ryan O’Halloran tweets that Lewis aims to return this week against the Chargers and will do running drills today. At this point, I expect Lewis to miss another week, but we should definitely be optimistic that the solid red zone target and blocker will return.
