Justin Blackmon will likely play

With Cecil Shorts’s status in doubt, Jacksonville Jaguars fellow star WR Justin Blackmon has a sky-high fantasy value, so long as his own injury doesn’t keep him out of today’s game against a porous San Diego Chargers secondary. Even if Shorts plays, Blackmon is still somebody definitely worth starting in standard leagues. He has put up 19 fantasy points in each of the two games he has played in since returning from a suspension, and it isn’t inconceivable for him to put up similar numbers today. While 19 points is an unrealistic expectation for any receiver, it’s definitely within the question for Blackmon.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that Justin Blackmon will likely play today, and he is listed questionable on the Jaguars official injury report with a hamstring. I would be downright shocked if Blackmon misses today’s game, because Florio’s report (the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the same thing, too) is confirmation of comments Blackmon made on Friday. He told reporters that he will play on Sunday (“no question” were his words) despite not practicing on Friday.
Blackmon’s injury should be viewed as very minor, but his potential fantasy impact should be viewed as major. I mean, this is a guy who has 326 receiving yards through just two games.
