The Oakland Raiders added some depth on their defense by picking up former New Orleans Saints LB Martez Wilson. Wilson should be good depth for the defense in Oakland and should get an opportunity to get some playing time. He fell out of favor in New Orleans and the Saints wanted to bring up their quarterback from the practice squad.
Wilson has shown a lot of potential and athleticism at the position. He can play in the middle and he can also bring the heat off of the edge at the linebacker position. He was drafted in 2011 in the 3rd round out of Illinois.
I think this will be a good fit for the youngster. Just let him get some opportunities to get after the quarterback and he will find a way to make some plays. He has a lot of speed coming off of the edge and he should be able to make some plays off of the edge in the nickel package.
In order to make room for Wilson, the Raiders released DT Christo Bilukidi.
