Reggie Bush not practicing

Detroit Lions star RB Reggie Bush practiced on Wednesday and Thursday, but he is not practicing today. It is unclear as to whether or not the Lions are just giving Bush a day off to prior to a key game against the Dallas Cowboys, or if he has sustained a new injury. It could very well be an injury, because Lions official site beat writer Tim Twentyman tweets that Bush had his “right leg wrapped up”. Per Twentyman, Louis Delmas, Corey Hilliard, and Louis Delmas were also absent at practice. The Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett adds that Lions left tackle Riley Reiff “looks good to go”.
Bush could only grind out 50 yards on 20 carries last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he was able to add 44 yards in the passing game and has never caught less than three passes in a game this season. He is currently at 305 receiving yards with two touchdowns, and it’s safe to say that he has been everything the Lions hoped for when they signed him this past offseason. They sought to give Matthew Stafford as many weapons as possible in the passing game, and they highlighted an elite receiving running back as a high priority. So far this season, they have two such players on their hands in Reggie Bush and Joique Bell, who should have an absolute monster game this week if Bush is unable to go.
The Cowboys are awful at covering running backs, and it only takes a quick look at the box score to see just how well Danny Woodhead did against the Cowboys earlier this season. If Bush is unable to play, it will be the Joique Bell show. A star player missing practicing at this stage of the week is either a rest day or a cause for significant concern; keep a close eye on any and all updates regarding Bush’s status. This could be nothing, but it could also be bad news for Lions fans and fantasy owners.
