The Oakland Raiders brought in LB Sam Montgomery in for a visit. Montgomery was released by the Houston Texans a couple of weeks ago after he was caught up with some shenanigans in the team hotel. The team says that he was caught smoking weed in the team hotel with a couple of his teammates.
Montgomery was drafted in the 3rd round in the offseason out of LSU and came with some character concerns, but he also showed a lot of potential in the draft. He could have gone as high as the first round, but he slipped down because of the concerns on his character.
The Raiders would love to add the potential to the roster. They just picked up Martez Wilson off of the New Orleans Saints and added him to their linebacking corps. They could be adding another 3rd round draft pick onto the team if they bring in Montgomery. If you have the space on the roster, then why not add more potential onto the roster?
