What were the St. Louis Rams thinking on Monday Night Football!?! They had one of the top team on the ropes and they were running the ball with authority in th game. Just running it down the throats of the Seahawks for a total of 199 yards on the ground in the game. Zac Stacy and Daryl Richardson were picking up chunks of yards in the ground game and then when the game is winding down in the 4th quarter, the Rams are down at the 1-yard line and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer decides to call a passing play with his backup quarterback under center. It wasn’t just a passing play either, he emptied the backfield and posed no threat of running the football in!
Sometimes I just can’t understand what coaches could possibly be thinking. At least call for a play action pass and get the ball out to a receiver. At least keep the back in the backfield to give at least a threat of a running play.
I don’t understand what Brian Schottenheimer does a lot of the time. From his days in New York to now, he has always been someone that fans want to strangle. I bet Tavon Austin would love to strangle him also. Tavon was one of the top prospects coming out of the draft, but he is getting close to BUST status under the direction of Schottenheimer on offense. The Rams offense has struggled this season and a lot of fingers are going to get pointed in the direction of Schottenheimer.
The Rams need to find a coordinator that can get a little more creative than Schottenheimer and someone who can get the most of the weapons that he has.
