Baltimore Ravens Kelechi Osemele not at practice

Baltimore Ravens starting left guard Kelechi Osemele has been dealing with a nagging back injury all year, and he stated earlier this month that he plans on having surgery on his back in the offseason in order to correct an issue that is clearly affecting his play. It seems like Osemele also picked up a new injury this week, as he is listed on the injury report with both back and knee injuries. Although Osemele was able to practice on Wednesday, he wasn’t able to practice on Thursday and likely picked up the injury sometime around then.
According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Kelechi Osemele is not at practice for the Ravens today, and he is actually the only Ravens player not at practice. The Ravens face the rival Cleveland Browns this week following the bye, and the fact that the Ravens are coming off of a bye week means that Osemele almost had to have suffered a knee injury during Wednesday’s practice.
Osemele’s status is totally up in the air for this week’s game, which is definitely good news for the Browns defense. The Ravens offensive line has had major issues this season, and A.Q. Shipley is a clear downgrade on Osemele, even if Osemele is slogging through a back injury. Shipley is clearly not somebody who should be starting, so let’s hope that Osemele can beat the odds and play; sadly, it doesn’t look likely at this point.
