San Diego Chargers wide receiver Eddie Royal has been a touchdown machine so far this season with seven total receiving touchdowns, and he didn’t let a nagging toe injury cause him to slip in red zone production. Royal has tallied a touchdown reception in each of his past two games, with four receptions for 69 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars and four receptions for 56 yards last week. He was listed questionable prior to both games with a toe injury and was able to play despite never practicing in the week leading up to either game.
It’s been interesting to watch Royal’s injury statuses, because he has defied the logic that players who don’t practice due to an injury don’t play. Not only has Royal played through this toe injury, but he’s also thrived by making some key plays. The Union-Tribune San Diego’s Michael Gehlken reports that the Chargers have officially listed Royal as questionable on the injury report for the third straight game.
Once again, Royal will play through the questionable tag following a spotty practice status record, and nobody should expect Royal to miss this week’s big game against the Denver Broncos, especially since he has a chance to show up his former team.
