Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey is expected to miss tonight’s game against the San Diego Chargers.

According to Marty Gitlin of CBS Sports, Bailey is more than likely to sit out tonight’s game after re-aggravating his left foot injury two weeks ago in Kansas City. The short week for the Broncos certainly does not benefit a veteran like Bailey, who has spent this whole season just trying to get (and stay) healthy.

The former All-Pro has been dealing with foot injuries all season, playing in only three game this year. Bailey is listed as questionable for the game, but the feeling around the team is that he will not play.

At 35, Bailey is past his prime, but he’s a defensive captain for the Broncos and will be an improvement to their secondary once he suits up. The Broncos should be able to win out with or without Bailey, so they might be best served to sit him until the playoffs. With a first round bye all but certain, Bailey will have a full month of rest if he sits out the rest of the regular season.
