After weeks of stating that Jay Cutler is the Bears franchise quarterback, Marc Trestman is backing it up with his decision to start Cutler Sunday in Cleveland.

According to ESPN Chicago Bears reporter Michael C. Wright, Trestman has full confidence in Cutler after workouts last week, and practice this week.

Despite the majority opinion of the media that Trestman should stick with the hot hand in Josh McCown, both he and McCown said all along that Cutler was the guy in Chicago and that he would start when healthy.

With McCown going 3-2 as the starter and posting better numbers than Cutler, a poor game from Cutler this Sunday will leave everyone questioning Marc Trestman on if he made the right decision, considering there were already plenty of doubters when Trestman left Cutler in too long in the November 10th game versus Detroit.

Regardless of how Sunday and the rest of the season plays out for the Bears, it’s clear that one of the QBs won’t be in Chicago next season, due to the constant high demand of competent quarterbacks in the NFL.
