The Minnesota Vikings held star running back Adrian Peterson out of last week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a significant foot sprain he suffered the week earlier, but Peterson has made quick progress and is expected to be back out there this week. Although he was a mid-week absence due to missing Thursday’s practice after getting a limited session in on Wednesday, his return to practice yesterday cemented his status as a likely “go” this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Peterson has officially been listed by the Vikings as questionable for tomorrow’s game, but Leslie Frazier and others have been optimistic about his status for this week’s game. He’s simply too tough and too good to miss a game when he’s healthy, and there’s little doubt that Peterson recovers from injuries much faster than the normal player. I would be surprised if he missed tomorrow’s game, and he is a must-start in fantasy leagues until further notice.
Not only that, but Peterson has also been very confident regarding his foot, so it would be unwise to think that he won’t play. No. 2 running back Toby Gerhart is also fully expected to return, so we won’t get a chance to see if Matt Asiata’s breakout game last week against the Eagles was just a one-hit wonder born out of opportunity.
