Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was dealing with all kinds of trade rumors earlier this season. There were rumors that were flying out of the Pittsburgh that had Roethlisberger packing his bags and heading out of town. Roethlisberger responded to all that talk by saying that he wanted to be with the Steelers organization for the rest of his career.
He put a lot of those rumors to rest and the team started making a run toward the playoffs. Today’s talk is that the Steelers are looking to extend his contract and they want Ben Roethlisberger to retire as a Steeler.
“We’ve got to have Ben retire as a Steeler,” Steelers President Art Rooney II said Wednesday. “There’s no doubt about that.”
Ben played every snap this year and he really was able to get the offense rolling toward the second half of the year. The Steelers implemented in a no-huddle offense and Ben was able to get the team moving down the field and scoring touchdowns. They were able to finish the season on a 6-2 run. The offense has a lot to look forward to next season.
Roethlisberger is one of the best in the league. If he were available in the open market, some team would jump at the opportunity to snatch up a quarterback of that caliber. He will always be looked at as a Pittsburgh Steeler and it is good to hear that he will finish out his career in that uniform.
