Oakland Raiders | Pick 5 | DE | Jadeveon Clowney | South Carolina

I’m sure that the Raiders would have liked to select a QB here, but it’d be a reach for them to take one of the remaining quarterbacks at number 5. It’s evident that Oakland isn’t content with Terrelle Pryor. Matt McGloin isn’t the answer, either. I would look for the Raiders to make a move on AJ McCarron early in the second round.

If Oakland does wait to draft a quarterback, they would most likely select defensive end, Jadeveon Clowney with their first pick. The Raiders would be getting, in my opinion, the best player in the draft.

It’s been well documented that Clowney regressed this past season, but that isn’t enough to make me doubt the guy. He’s a big, strong pass-rusher that has the ability to cause relentless chaos for opposing linemen. Getting Clowney at 5 would be a steal for Oakland.

Atlanta Falcons |Pick 6 | Anthony Barr | OLB/DE | UCLA

The Falcons pass rush simply isn’t up to par. Osi Umenyiora is aging and isn’t what he used to be, but I think everyone knew that when he was brought in. Osi is essentially serving as a stop-gap until the team can bring in a player to man the position for the long run. Anthony Barr can be that guy.

Because of his build, Barr would be a better fit in a 3-4 scheme, but I think that he has the talent and skills to make the transition into a more traditional edge rusher. The Falcons also have a need for offensive linemen, so don’t be surprised if they opt to go in that direction.
