The New York Jets met with Clemson QB Tajh Boyd for about an hour on Tuesday Night, per Brian Costello of the New York Post. The Jets drafted Geno Smith in the 2nd round last season and started all 16 games for the Jets.
Jets backup QB Mark Sanchez will be returning from injury this season and is a candidate to be released. The Jets may be looking to add another quarterback onto their roster in the draft and Boyd seems to be one of the guys that they are looking at.
Boyd has been unimpressive during Senior Bowl practices this week. There has been talk from scouts calling Boyd “undraftable”. He will have to step up during the NFL Combines and there still are a couple more practices before the Senior Bowl on Saturday.
The Jets should try to add a veteran quarterback into their mix. Geno Smith is young and had a roller coaster season. If Boyd were drafted by the Jets, he would likely compete for the 3rd quarterback spot on the roster.
