Brian Gaine interviewed yesterday, Lake Dawson up today for Miami Dolphins

After Cleveland Browns executive Ray Farmer turned down the Miami Dolphins after being the apparent favorite for the job, the Dolphins race became a two-man one between Tennessee Titans VP Lake Dawson and current Dolphins assistant GM Brian Gaine. One more name entered the mix yesterday, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that New England Patriots young and talented director of pro personnel Nick Caserio interviewed with the Dolphins yesterday. The news came as a surprise, and Caserio would be a dream hire for the Dolphins. That said, Caserio’s interest is most likely speculative, and I wouldn’t expect him to be the guy.
Honestly, the best candidate for the Dolphins at this point- unless if they can poach Caserio from the Patriots- is Lake Dawson, who would also be a very good hire for this organization. The Dolphins and owner Stephen Ross have been criticized heavily for their GM search, as they lost out on Jason Licht to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and were unable to hire Farmer away from the circus that is the Cleveland Browns brain trust.
The NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports that the Dolphins only internal candidate, Brian Gaine, interviewed with the team yesterday, and Dawson’s highly-anticipated interview with Ross and the organization will come today. For the Dolphins sake, hopefully today’s interview with Dawson is a home-run for both sides, because they could really use a guy like him at GM to replace Jeff Ireland, who was given too long of a leash in Miami by Ross.
