The Baltimore Ravens have made the decision to bring in former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak in as the new offensive coordinator. The official announcement will happen at 3pm and it is unclear if there will be any other staff changes with Kubiak coming on board, per Ian Rapoport.
Kubiak will get the opportunity to work with Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce on offense and will likely rely on them both to carry the offense. While in Houston, Kubiak relied heavily on Arian Foster and Ben Tate to carry the team on offense. The play action pass will become a big weapon for Joe Flacco and the offense as well.
The Ravens will have their 3rd offensive coordinator in 3 seasons. There has not been much stability with the offensive coordinator position and Kubiak will be looking to add some stability there. If Kubiak does well though, he will likely be a hot name as a head coaching candidate in 2015.
There were rumors that head coach John Harbaugh was a “non-factor” in this decision making process. We will see how this plays in the chemistry in that front office.
