The Cleveland Browns have received permission to interview Buffalo Bills LB Coach Jim O’Neil for the defensive coordinator position. Per Ian Rapoport, this is just a formality and he will likely be given the defensive coordinator position when the interview process is complete.
New Browns head coach Mike Pettine is looking to bring over some of his guys to help him run the team. It will start with Jim O’Neil to run the defense. We still have to find out who they will get in order to run the Browns offense.
The Browns offense is the biggest concern for the team. The Browns head coaching search looked like it was leaning toward offensive minded coaches, but with the arrival of Mike Pettine on the staff, they threw a little change-up. Now they will be looking to find an expert on offense to run that side of the football.
Gary Kubiak’s name had been mentioned as a possibility to run the offense, but there are rumors of a possible power struggle and Kubiak is no longer a candidate. Bill Callahan has also been mentioned as a possible coordinator for the team.
