Cowboys Name Rob Marinelli Their Defensive Coordinator

Dec 29, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware (94) celebrates after recovering a fumble with linebacker Trent Cole (58) in the third quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles at AT

The Dallas Cowboys have been shifting things around in there coaching staff a lot recently. They just brought on Scott Linehan as the passing coordinator and he will be calling the plays on offense. Bill Callahan will still be kept on the coaching staff as the offensive coordinator. They have also promoted DL Coach Rob Marinelli to become the teams new defensive coordinator. Current defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin will now become the assistant head coach.

All kinds of changes happening in the coaching staff, but nobody was fired still. Everyone keeps their jobs.

The Marinelli promotion seems to be a good move. He has head coaching experience and has had a lot of experience working with some successful defenses. He was on the defensive coaching staffs for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears when those teams were one of the best defensive clubs in the league. He gets his opportunity to call the shots on defense now.

Marinelli has a tough task ahead of him. The Cowboys poor defense was the main reason for the team’s struggles last season. He will have to figure out a way to get some stops and to get the team to perform.

How will this turn out for the Cowboys?
