The Baltimore Ravens have one of the most talented coaching staffs after adding former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and his former offensive coordinator Rick Dennison to the staff. Bringing Kubiak aboard as the offensive coordinator under John Harbaugh was a big move in its own, but also adding Dennison as the QBs coach was an absolute steal. I mean, Dennison was such a good offensive coordinator for the Texans that he should have been a big head coaching candidate this offseason. While the Ravens were unable to bring in a third great mind on offense in Kyle Shanahan, adding both Kubiak and Dennison was certainly more than good enough.
Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, Joe Flacco, and the rest of the Ravens offense will definitely benefit from having both offensive gurus, and Kubiak’s offensive expertise and play-calling will also take a load off of Harbaugh’s busy shoulders. Kubiak is getting plenty of praise, but nothing is getting praised more than his ability to effectively call plays, which is the most important part of a good offensive coordinator’s job description.
Ravens veteran fullback Vonta Leach is one of those people giving praise to Kubiak for his play-calling, via Ravens official site beat writer Ryan Mink, “He’s got a feel for calling the game on the day. He puts players in the best situations for them to be successful.”
Leach knows Kubiak very well from their days in Houston, so he’s speaking from experience.
