Kyle Shanahan still very much an option for Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns hired former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, who was displaced after Ken Whisenhunt made his TEs coach with the San Diego Chargers the new OC in Tennessee, to their staff, but they haven’t specified what position he will hold. Loggains is definitely OC-worthy, but the Browns offensive coordinator search hasn’t ceased. It looks like they are going to try and do what the Baltimore Ravens did with their coaches on the offensive side of the ball, as the Browns will likely try to hire Kyle Shanahan as their head coach and use Loggains as their quarterbacks coach. However, Ravens new offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak and new QBs coach Rick Dennison had a close working relationship while with the Houston Texans. Shanahan and Loggains? To my knowledge, they’ve never worked together.
Per league sources close to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot, Kyle Shanahan is “still very much in” the mix for the Browns offensive coordinator vacancy, and we’ll see if the Browns can get the dream tandem of Shanahan/Loggains aboard to replace Norv Turner, who now works for Mike Zimmer and the Minnesota Vikings.
Although the Browns have been late to the punch with their coaching hires to this point, they should be able to emerge with a strong OC in either Loggains or Shanahan. For their sake, hopefully they can land both, especially since they desperately need top-notch coaching on that side of the ball due to their lack of a franchise QB, feature back, and WR2.
