Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman said that QB Christian Ponder will be part of the team in 2014. The team still will be looking to add antoher quarterback onto the roster, but Ponder will be part of the mix. The Vikings likely will be looking to add a couple of quarterbacks onto the roster. Josh Freeman and Matt Cassel are both free agents and the team needs to find someone that can lead the team at quarterback.
Cassel is a candidate to come back, but he voided the rest of his contract so that he could get more money. Will the Vikings want to pay him that money.
The Vikings will also likely use their high draft pick on a quarterback. They will be hoping that the quarterback that they love falls to them in the draft. They have to wait till the 8th selection in the draft. Otherwise, they may want to look to trade up in the draft so that they can get the quarterback that they want.
Whoever they draft will have Christian Ponder as a teammate. The rookie will likely have the inside shot at the starting job, but Ponder will try to make his push.
