The Denver Broncos have a number of key free agents set to hit the open market this offseason, and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie seems to be the clear priority due to both his talent and the Broncos need to keep top talent in the secondary. No. 2 wide receiver Eric Decker is a huge name hitting free agency, but the Broncos are fully expected to let him go. Decker will almost certainly receive a big contract from another team on the open market, whereas the Broncos simply don’t have the money or the need to make him a substantial offer.
Both sides have seemingly resigned to the fact that Decker will leave this offseason, and that’s left most of us interested in seeing where he will end up. He’s not a true No. 1 receiver at all and shouldn’t be paid like one (though things might shake out that way), but he’s a great No. 2 WR and would constitute a terrific signing at the right price for a WR-desperate team like the New York Jets.
Decker recently spoke to SiriusXM NFL Radio about his impending free agency, and they transcribed the interview in several tweets. Below are three tweets with quotes from Decker on his impending free agency, and the overarching message is that he pretty much knows his time with Peyton Manning is most likely over.
