The Philadelphia Eagles signed star left tackle Jason Peters to a huge extension worth $41.3 million over the next four seasons, and the deal was completely worth it despite the fact that Peters is 34. He’s still one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL, and he showed little ill-effects last season of a season-ending injury in 2013. A sure-fire pass blocker, the All-Pro LT is also one of the best ru blocking tackles in the NFL, and that’s crucial in the Eagles run-heavy attack led by superstar LeSean McCoy.
It looks like talented center Jason Kelce will be the next one to get an extension, and he definitely deserves a massive deal. Both CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer report that Kelce is next in-line to receive a lucrative contract extension from the Eagles, and he is at the center of the league’s best offensive line.
Another solid pass blocker, the 26-year-old Cincinnati product blossomed in his third season and is one of the best centers in the NFL. An elite run blocker in every sense, Kelce and Evan Mathis help form one of the league’s most bruising interiors due to their ability to grate the road on the ground, and it will be interesting to see just how much Kelce earns per year if he is indeed extended. At this point, Kelce is essentially a lock to receive a new, high-priced deal.
