Cleveland Browns inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson.
Free agent inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson has already received interest from the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans, as both teams have a need for a starting inside linebacker. For the Broncos, free agency has led to this need, whereas the Titans desperately need some help at the position; Moise Fokou simply doesn’t cut it.
Jackson has the ability to be a quality starter in either the 3-4 or 4-3 defense, and teams will continue to show interest in the 30-year-old tackling machine. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Arizona Cardinals are also interested in Jackson, and they will try to host him over the weekend. While they don’t have nearly as pronounced of a need for an LB as the Titans, the Cardinals are in roughly the same position as the Broncos are, as an impending free agent could create a need for the Cards to sign Jackson as Daryl Washington’s ILB partner in the team’s 3-4 defense.
Although the Cardinals would like to re-sign underrated veteran Karlos Dansby, it’s possible that he could try to chase the paper and put himself outside of the team’s financial reach. If this happens, then Jackson would be a nice “Plan B” option, because he has the experience and production. While I think Dansby is the better player due to his all-around ability, Jackson is solid in his own right.
