Alterraun Verner, Arthur Jones have interest from New York Giants

The New York Giants biggest position of need this offseason is the offensive line, but they could also use some upgrades on the defensive side of the ball and at wide receiver. Adding a corner would help the Giants pass defense significantly, and the impending free agencies of talented DLs Justin Tuck and Linval Joseph give them holes at DE and DT. A reunion with Osi Umenyiora could be a possibility if Tuck does leave and Osi decides not to take a paycut with the Atlanta Falcons.
Per an NFL source close to the New York Daily News’s Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants have shown interest in Tennessee Titans corner Alterraun Verner, who will be one of the hottest commodities on the free agent market. Verner is my No. 2-ranked free agent CB, and the 25-year-old could really blow things open following Sam Shields’s surprisingly monstrous deal. Speaking of Shields, the Giants showed interest in him before he ultimately decided to take the Green Bay Packers generous offer.
Verner would be a big addition for the Giants, but I think it’s more likely for them to sign the other player they are reportedly interest in early on. The Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Giants also have interest in Arthur Jones, who can play as a 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT. A solid pass rusher and run defender, Jones would be a nice replacement for Joseph. He’s expected to receive major interest on the open market, though, so he could be overpaid.
