Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Trindon Holliday is one of the NFL’s most electrifying return men, and the 27-year-old LSU product has four return touchdowns in his two seasons with the Broncos organization to help back that up. He is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, and he definitely plants fear in the mind of kickers and punters alike (moreso kickers).
CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora reported this morning that the free agent will visit the Atlanta Falcons today, and it’s the first known bit of interest in him ever since he was not tendered. It isn’t surprising to see that he hasn’t received any visits outside of the Falcons or any other reported interest, because he is nothing more than a return man, thus providing little roster flexibility. And even though he has blazing speed and explosiveness on returns, he’s also ridiculously fumble-prone and makes more boneheaded decisions than most return men.
It will be interesting to see if the Falcons decide to take a flier on the high-impact returner, and Holliday can give a contender some nice upside due to his ability to break a game open on special teams. But unfortunately, it also seems like he’s just as likely to cause a game-breaking play the other way with a fumble after losing three in the past two seasons.
If Holliday can be as productive with Atlanta as he was with Denver than the Falcons will get one of the most dangerous return men in the entire NFL.
