The Pittsburgh Steelers were getting an up-close-and-personal look at Louis Nix during the Notre Dame Pro Day. Check out how close head coach Mike Tomlin was with Nix in his 4 point stance.
The Steelers are one of the teams that could be interested in adding the mammoth man in the middle of their defensive line. They are looking for some meat in the middle of that defensive line and Nix is one of the best nose tackles coming out of the draft. He is coming off a knee injury and didn’t have the greatest year, but he is projected to be taken in the first round of the draft and could help upgrade the Steelers defense.
Nix can be that anchor in the middle of the defense to draw double teams and hold up a few guys while letting the linebackers slide through to make the play. Nix was that guy in Notre Dame and he set up Manti Te’o for a number of good plays in the past. He will be looking to make a living in the NFL by gobbling up blockers as well.
I wonder if Mike Tomlin liked what he saw from that center position in front of Nix? If he did, Nix could be heading out to Pittsburgh during the NFL Draft.
