The Detroit Lions GM Martin Mayhew and Head Coach Jim Caldwell met with stud wide receiver Sammy Watkins and his family during the Clemson Pro Day, per Dave Birkett. Watkins is a potential selection for the Lions with the 10th pick in the draft. Watkins likely will not slide that far in the draft, but the Lions are doing their homework and might want to move up the board in order to select their guy.
The Lions already have Calvin Johnson on the roster and they are looking at the possibility of adding another beast wide receiver into the mix. They want to move that offense into elite status. They want to take the offense over the top and open up the field more for Calvin.
Matthew Stafford will not struggle because of lack of talent on the field. He has Megatron to throw the football to. He has Reggie Bush to get the football to. Now the team is looking to add another monster receiving talent onto the roster. If it is not Sammy Watkins, it could be another beast like Mike Evans. The Lions staff have Evans’ Pro Day up next on their tour.
