The Oakland Raiders have a “massive crush” on Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr. Man crushes!
If they really had a huge crush for the QB, then they wouldn’t have picked up Matt Schaub in the offseason. Schaub looks to be the quarterback for the next few seasons and selecting Derek Carr right now would be a waste of a draft selection.
Carr has all the tools to be a stud in the league, but he hasn’t been on the field to prove his ability. He hasn’t gone up against the ferocious pass rushers in this league and the swarming defenses. Nobody knows if he will be able to handle the pressure and the Raiders went with the veteran choice to run the ship.
Carr could still be on the Raiders draft board, but it would be best to get him down the line. With the 5th overall selection in the draft, the Raiders can use that selection to pick up some big time talent to help boost the team into competition in the AFC West. The AFC West is looking stronger and stronger this season. There is going to be a lot of competition among the teams in the division.
