The top quarterback on the Cleveland Browns depth chart, Brian Hoyer, says he will be ready for the start of offseason workouts that will take place in mid-April, according to NFL.com. Hoyer is just 6 months removed from a gruesome MCL injury he suffered during week 5 of last year. Hoyer believes that he will have the ‘upper hand’ against any quarterback that will come on to battle him for the starting role.

Hoyer showed great potential at the start of last season as he was able to start in 3 games before going down with an injury. Hoyer threw 615 yards and had 5 touchdowns during his brief stint at the helm. In all honesty, the Browns looked the best they’ve looked all year with him calling the plays.

Hoyer is one of two quarterbacks on the Browns roster. The other is 26-year-old Alex Tanney. The team is also in a great position in May’s draft to select one of the premier rookie quarterbacks as they hold the 4th overall pick. I could see the Browns taking a shot at either Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel or Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater. They will most likely have the shot at both of them because the Texans have been trying to trade their number 1 pick, the Rams are openly opposed to taking a quarterback with their number 2 pick and I can see the Jags taking UCF signal caller, Blake Bortles with the 3rd pick.

Hoyer will have his work cut out for him if the Browns decide to select one of the rookies, especially if they take Manziel, who will undoubtably become a instant fan favorite. It will be an interesting couple of months for Hoyer, and the Browns, but it looks like he will be ready before the draft.
