If your a Steelers fan, it’s going to start costing you more to see your team play in big games as the team jumped on the variable ticket pricing bandwagon, according to ProFootballTalk.com. This means that games that aren’t as appealing, like home games against Tampa Bay or Houston, will cost fans less than games against rivals like Baltimore and Cincinnati.

This also means that preseason games could see ‘up to a 20 percent’ decrease in prices as fans have complained that preseason tickets cost the same as the regular reason. Speaking of percent increases: over the past year, season ticket holders of the Steelers have seen a 2 percent increase in total price, but with the variable tickets, they will see a different price per game.

The official price tickets will not be released until the official schedule is released, but we can guess what games will see the price increase/decrease. This could be a double edged sward for fans because highly anticipated games will be very expensive to go see, but they could see possibly a few games that aren’t necessarily favored.

Nonetheless, the trend in the NFL seems to be leaning towards this variable ticket pricing system and the Steelers are the next team to adapt to try to please their fans.
